Monday Mission - The Great Commission
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
There is something I've noticed in the church, and it's something I find myself guilty of at times - I call it Christian self help. It's a process of sanctification and personal spiritual growth that comes from sermons, devotionals, and church potlucks. While these are all great things, when this becomes our focus we as Christ followers are missing the mark. For we were not called to harbor our beliefs, convictions, and faith but rather to share the good news of Jesus Christ. It's known as the Great Commission, and in the book of Mathew chapter 28 describes it best:
"16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
My challenge to you is this, share the good news of Jesus Christ with one person this week. Go out of your way to show God's love through you. Encourage someone in faith, challenge someone who needs correction. Don't let another week pass by without furthering His Kingdom for, "The day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed." 2 Peter 3:10
