I don't know how many of you began 2020 with New Years resolutions in mind, but every year I set out goals for myself to improve my health, accomplish a goal, or begin a new habit. By this time each year I begin to lose the desire to continue in pursuit of my aims and find myself returning to the status quo.

I find that this is so often true in my spiritual life as well. During seasons of spiritual highs it is easy to spend time in prayer and meditation with the Lord. As a result of these spiritual uplifts I set goals to continue to improve my relationship with God. With the business of life, these good intentions are often put on the back burner to something seemingly more important at the time.

This week, spend time recharging your emotional and spiritual batteries by spending time in the word and recommitting to your goals.

"Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me."
