Thursday Thought - Why does God let people die?

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31

Cross

Many people ask "why does God let people die?", if God is able to save people and heal people. It's a difficult question and a difficult question to answer. Today we'll look at two Scripture references to see if it helps answer that question. (This is not an attempt to clearly answer that question. It is simply citing potential answers)

Genesis 5:24

"Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away."

-In this reference, it is saying that God took Enoch away from life in part because Enoch was a man of faith. So in God's eyes, Enoch is going to spend eternity in heaven and because of that he is "ready" for death.

John 11:4

"When he heard this, Jesus said, "This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory so that God's Son may be glorified through it."

-In this reference, it is saying that God let somebody die because it would bring glory to God. Although that is hard to accept for me personally as I lost a younger brother that was only 40 years old, this does make sense to me because the Bible says that things are happening around us at all times that we don't understand but through them God is glorified. This verse would help explain just that.

A larger question that we need to ask ourselves is this, "Because I am still alive by the grace of God, how then do I live? What am I supposed to do with my time and my life?"
