Thursday Thought - He Is Worthy
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
When I stop to consider God and His place in not only my life, but the world today and throughout history I conclude that I waste a lot of time on trivial and wasteful things. There are so many times that instead of putting everything towards God, I make the most random things more worthy of my time, focus, energy, thoughts, money spending, and relationship building. Why is that? Although it might be the easy answer, I can only conclude that it is my sinful nature that is inside of ME that causes me to not make Him the center of everything.
While listening to a worship song this week, I was reminded that there is still unbelievably great news for me that I cannot forget. Lyrics in the song say "Only this I know, only this I know, that your love never changes as I go." God will never give up on me (or you). Yet He does require a faith in Him that includes repentance from sin that leads to a life with proven differences. Yes, it is important for other people to see the evidence of a changed life. But even that is external and can be a show. There is only one person who knows us better than we do, that that is the Lord Himself. So I believe it is more important for that 1-1 relationship with God to be strengthened to the point where my conscious and subconscious mind and soul are pleased with my thoughts, behaviors, words, and actions towards God. It seems one-sided because God never changes. And that is the beauty of how He never gives up on us or leaves us, rather His love never changes.
Here are some Bible verses that I read this week to remind me that ONLY GOD is worthy of my praise. Only He is worthy of the best of my time, the best of my thoughts, the best of my language, the best of my money, the best of my everything. Amen.
Deuteronomy 31:8 "The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed."
1 Chronicles 29:11 "Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all."
Psalm 136:4 "To Him who alone does great wonders, His love endures forever."
Revelation 5:13 "Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them saying, "To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!"
1 Timothy 1:17 "Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen."
Revelation 4:11 "You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they were created and have their being."
