Tuesday Truth - Not in Vain

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31

Do you ever have days where you struggle with finding a reason to keep moving forward? Your inbox is full of unread messages, the laundry hampers are overflowing, and the yard still needs to be mowed, but it all seems so trivial. A common phrase being thrown around on social media lately is the “reminder” that “life’s not that deep - we’re just existing on a floating rock in space”.

But as Christians, we should challenge that concept. Life is so important. Life is a wonderful gift and a blessing. Our limited number of days on this earth are the only time we get to help reach lost souls for Christ. Every day we wake up is another opportunity we have to make an eternal impact in someone’s life.

So while the small tasks might seem so trivial, they aren’t. Those unread messages in your inbox, are people who you are blessed to serve and interact with – You may be the only Bible they get the chance to read. Those laundry hampers that are overflowing are a reminder that God has blessed you richly in this life and provided for not only your spiritual needs, but your physical needs as well. The lawn that needs mowing grants you another opportunity to get outside to enjoy God's creation, and maybe interact with your neighbors and community members.

Even the small daily chores you complete, are an act of service to God when done with the right heart and attitude. On days when the Devil is whispering in my ear about how meaningless life seems, I choose to cling to the truth of 1 Corinthians 15:58,

“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
