Thursday Thought - Preparing for Thanksgiving

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

As someone who loves to cook, (and especially loves to eat!), AND is a recovering perfectionist, I usually spend free time leading up to Thanksgiving researching new recipes, thinking of creative ways to set the table, how I will pair the ideal wines with the meal courses, etc etc. This year especially I’ve been spending a lot of time reflecting on how to bring God’s presence to my Thanksgiving table. Whether it is through inviting a new friend to our home to celebrate the day, reaching out to someone I may have lost touch with, spending a little extra time in prayer that day, or even just being mindful of practicing patience with my loved ones.

Philippians 4:6-7 (ESV)

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
