Thursday Thought - Significant Tasks
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Reading the Old Testament probably isn’t at the top of most people’s reading lists, unless they need help falling asleep. Some people at the Support Center are doing a reading plan to read through the whole Bible in one year. Last week, the following verse in Numbers struck me:
“As part of all their service at the tent, they are to carry the frames of the tabernacle, its crossbars, posts and bases… Assign to each man the specific things he is to carry.” (Numbers 4:31-32)
The notes in my Bible indicate that “The men of the Merarite division were responsible for all the heavy lifting… The Lord took a mundane task and personalized it by specifying what each person was to carry. Similarly, the Lord gives us work to do that might not feel especially exciting, but we can trust that he has good reasons for assigning it to us and that it is significant within his plan.”
What task, role or situation in your life has God assigned you to? Thank God for His plan and the significance of everything, even the things that seem insignificant to us.
