Thursday Thoughts - Bible Legitimacy
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Have you ever wondered if the Bible is truly God's holy and inspired word? Or how reasonable is it to believe that what we find written is legitimate? Did you know that there were approximately 35 authors who wrote the various books of the Bible? And that it was written over a period of 1500 years? This book was not just a group of disciples working together to produce the written word. It took centuries for the prophesies of the old testament to be fulfilled generations later. Throughout the Bible there are many fulfilments of scripture that took place many years apart. The Psalms have many prophecies that were fulfilled in the new testament:
Psalms 2:7 says the messiah will be God's Son - fulfilled in Hebrews 1:5-6
Psalms 16:8-10 said that he would rise from the dead - fulfilled in Luke 24:5-7
Psalms 22:1-21 describes the agony Christ would experience on the Cross - fulfilled in Matthew26;27
Don't be discouraged by doubt, but rather be encouraged by the Word of God. For, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." He can speak to you today through his living Word, all it takes is for you to pick up the book and open your heart to the Holy Spirit's work.
