Thursday Thoughts-How Did Candy Canes Get Their Shape?
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Have You Ever Wondered...
How did candy canes get their shape?
Have candy canes always been striped?
Why are candy canes associated with Christmas?
Me too, so I went exploring and found a lot of information on candy canes! The best synopsis I found was from a website call Wonderopolis.org and was entitled, How Did Candy Canes Get Their Shape? Turns out that candy canes were created by a German choirmaster to help keep kids quiet while they attended his Christmas Nativity Pageant. The originator bent the candy in the shape of a cane to represent the shepherd's crook and these candies became a Christmas tradition at the church, and eventually the candy cane spread throughout Europe and became associated with Christmas. If you wish to know more, and find out if candy canes have always been striped and minty, click on the link in this post!
