Thursday Video- Ray Vander Laan on "Green Pastures"
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Psalm 23:2 "He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters"
Usually when the "Green Pastures" from this verse are painted on canvas it's belly-deep alfalfa crops. If you do a Google image search of "Psalm 23:2" you will see a bunch of images of green, lush, vibrant scenery. When I personally think of "Green Pastures", I imagine rolling hills of green crops of corn, grass, or beans. But from Biblical times until today, you would never have a Shepard with a flock of sheep in belly-deep alfalfa. They would eat all the good, useful crops!
So how can sheep walk along the rocky mountainsides and wilderness, and survive? Are they rock eaters? And how can the Bible say the flock is eating in green pastures when it's all rock, in the middle of a desert?
Watch this video and learn from teacher Ray Vander Laan what the "Green Pastures" actually are, and what Psalm 23:2 means to us and our relationship with God. It was very eye-opening to me and I hope it is for you too. Blessings on your day!
