Tuesday Truth - I am who God says I am
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
I became a Christian when I was in my late teens. It was a transformational experience, and one that changed the course of my life from then on. It wasn’t until recently, 20 years later, that I recognized how knowing Jesus shaped my identity in an unshakeable way. Instead of being at the mercy of what others thought of me, or what I felt about myself, my roots have been anchored to who God says I am.
We don’t always measure up to our own expectations for ourselves or those others have for us. We can find ourselves believing lies about who we are, and striving for approval and validation, instead of resting in who we are as children of God.
What determines your worth? Your looks? The car you drive? The friends you associate with? The job you work? Your home? Are you anchored in Christ, or are you striving for worldly things to determine your worth?
Who does God say you are?
You are loved (John 3:16)
You are free from sin (Romans 8:2)
You are holy and blameless (Ephesians 1:4)
You have the Spirit of God (1 John 4:4)
You are chosen by God (1 Peter 2:9)
You are God’s workmanship (Ephesians 2:10)
You are forgiven (Ephesians 1:7)
You are not ruled by fear (2 Timothy 1:7)
You are strong (Colossians 1:1)
You have everything you need (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
You can do all things (Philippians 4:13)
You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14)
You are never alone. He is always with you (Deuteronomy 3:16)
I encourage you to thank God today for these sweet truths from his word – and to live from a place of rest, knowing that no matter what anyone else says about you, you are who God says you are.
