Do you ever find it difficult to just be happy? If you're reading this, you probably have more than you need and are relatively blessed beyond belief, and yet you find yourself without happiness. Sometimes I find myself in this season or funk that I just can't shake, but then I consider what am I searching for to fulfill my happiness - my wife, my career, my social life? None of these things will bring true joy only found in Christ. Elisabeth Elliot once wrote:

The world looks for happiness through self-assertion. The Christian knows that joy is found in self-abandonment. “If a man will let himself be lost for My sake,” Jesus said, “he will find his true self.”

I find this a great reminder in seasons of doubt or unhappiness. It's not about me. Its not about my wants, but it is dying to my sin and selfish ambition to live for God and His will. Seek Him and you will find your joy.
