Friday Devotional - A Changed Life
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
We’ve been going through the Book of Acts here at the Pizza Ranch Support Center. Today we looked at the story of a man named Saul. Saul was a Jewish leader who was doing everything he could to stop the good news of Jesus from being spread. He was breathing out murderous threats against Christians at this time. And now he was on his way to Damascus to continue his work… when suddenly, something dramatic happened. Read Acts 9:1-9.
The light that Saul encountered was so bright that it knocked him to the ground rendering him helpless. He immediately surrendered to it asking, “Who are you Lord?” The Lord then answered, “I am Jesus who you are persecuting.” Notice that Jesus is sticking up for those who believe. From Jesus’ perspective, any persecution that happens to one of His followers, happens to Him too. If we are rejected, then He is rejected. If we are received, then He is received. Isn’t it comforting to know that we are not alone. Jesus is with us in all that we experience. In the story, Saul goes on to be an amazing example of a changed life. Spending the rest of his days pointing people to Jesus.
You and I are needed to do the same thing…right where we are. God chooses normal, unqualified, everyday sinners like you and me to tell and show others the way. To be a difference maker for the Kingdom. To be bold even if we’re not confident, or fumble over our words, or if we fear persecution from others. He’ll turn our tests into our testimony. The Holy Spirit will help us to use our own story to point people to Christ. To help our words become His. May we be evidence of a changed life here at work, in our own communities, and throughout the world.
