Friday Devotional - Acknowledging God
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
I used to think a lot about how I could please God. Basically wondering, “He’s done so much for me, what can I do to please Him?” “What can I do to glorify Him?” This question even flows out of our vision statement here at Pizza Ranch, “To glorify God by positively impacting the world.” How do we do that? I’d say that there’s many differing answers to that question. Answers like, doing our best, using our gifts, reading His Word, following His commands, being thankful, etc. Many things glorify God according to the Bible. An answer that God’s been putting on my heart lately, and one I’d like to share with you, is acknowledging His presence throughout my day. That if I look and listen, and then acknowledge Him in that moment, that He’ll be glorified.
God speaks to us continually. He speaks to us in nature, through sunsets and sunrises, through a gentle breeze, through people, through His Word, etc. I believe that we can glorify God in each moment when we have the eyes to see and the ears to hear. God rejoices each time we discover His presence. If we practice looking and listening, I believe God is glorified in those times.
Psalm 19:1-2 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.”
May we each make a habit of looking and listening to Him, acknowledging Him throughout our day.
