We’ve been slowly walking through the Book of Psalms, and this week we’re looking at (Psalm 50). The Psalms do such a great job of talking about the topics and emotions we most often deal with in life.

There’s so much in this chapter, each verse is full of wisdom we can soak in, use, and grab hold of daily. This chapter talks of…5 commands to God’s people, 10 reasons for those commands, 12 charges against the wicked, and 2 things related to salvation.

What stood out to me the most in this passage is that God is never silent. God speaks to us (non-stop) through His amazing creation. The imagery of the passage makes it easy to see that. It reminds me of the story of the 10 commandments, where God’s appearance is accompanied by thunder, lightning, and fire. God summons the heavens and earth to bear witness to all that He is and does.

1. God speaks to and summons the earth (50:1)
2. It’s God who shines forth (50:2)
3. God comes and does not keep silent (50:3)
4. God calls out with fire to the heavens (50:3-4)
5. And the heavens declare God’s righteousness (50:6)

But what is God saying and declaring?

1. That we acknowledge Him
2. That we be thankful

May we each recognize and grab hold of the Truth of Scripture. And then honor and glorify God with it.
