So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

Friday Devotional

(from IF:Gathering)

At the beginning of Jesus ministry, one of the first things He did was call His disciples.

Matthew 4:19 “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men”

Discipleship starts with following Jesus!  Matthew 4:20 “Immediately they left their nets and followed Him” Their decision was immediate!

Jesus lived a compelling life, and His disciples were moved by His ways.

The way He spoke

The way He loved

The way He served

The way He taught

The way He reached out to people

Their decision was easy, immediately responded to Jesus call and followed Him.

Discipleship in our lives today!

Matthew 28:18-20 “And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Disciple means student or learner

To make disciples means to train someone up in the way of a teacher, to instruct them, to disciple them

How can we disciple those around us?

“Discipleship is about relationships and relationships are about people”

God wants us to be in a relationship with Him and with others

“As Christ-followers we are called to discipleship”

“The call of discipleship is not about specific talents or gifts”

“We can all disciple in our current stage of life”

“We are to follow in the footsteps of Jesus”

“We strive to disciple like Jesus”

“If we are a follower of Christ, this is our call”

‘The call to make disciples can be scary, but don’t overcomplicate it. Its comes by building relationships and investing in people.”  Jesus invested in us and we are worth it!
