Friday Devotional - Redirecting Our Gaze
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Would it be true if I said, “We all want to experience the riches of our salvation?” I think so. We’d all love to have the joy of being loved constantly and perfectly.
The problem is, we make a habit of judging ourselves too much on our looks, our behavior, and our feelings. When we feel good about those things, we tend to feel better about our walk with God. When we don’t feel good about those things, we tend to feel more down about our walk with God.
The challenge is to not try to “fix” ourselves…but instead to “fix” our gaze on the one who loves us unconditionally. Rather than using our energy to judge ourselves, redirect it by looking to God…the lover of our soul. The one who sees us just as if we’d never sinned, who declared us not guilty.
Psalm 34:5 – “Those who look at him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.”
