We were blessed with staff devotions led by our Director of Construction; may you also be blessed by his message.
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12 NKJV)
Scripture is replete with word imagery and at times conjures up various versions of what a biblical sword would look like. To some when a sword is mentioned they envision the Hollywood version of a Conan the Barbarian type of sword, and yet others may envision the typical Roman Gladiator style sword. And still others may envision something altogether different like a multi-bladed Zombie Apocalypse killer sword.
Whatever the sword you envision as you peruse the scriptures nothing compares to God’s statement that the “sword of the Spirit is the Word of God” (Eph. 6:17). When God’s sword is wielded appropriately there is nothing to compare to His own description of its usage, “living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword”. When we as Christians wield God’s sword as it is intended, which is the Word of God, powerful things happen and lives are changed.
