When a person comes to know Christ, or when that person asks Christ to be the Lord and Savior of their life, Scripture says that the Holy Spirit will then live in, around and flow out of them. That doesn’t mean that person becomes perfect. We know that. But, the Holy Spirit does become that person’s helper, comfort, intercessor, counselor, strength, teacher, and power. It helps that person to pray and to spread the good news locally, regionally, and throughout the world.
Acts 2:42 shows 4 things that the early church did after the Holy Spirit entered them:
- They studied God’s Word
- They fellowshipped together
- They shared in the Lord’s supper
- They prayed
Acts 2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
The result of this kind of dedication becomes:
- A heart for God
- Examples of being alive in Him
- People saw and believed
May we find ways to fit God’s Word, fellowship, the Lord’s Supper, and prayer into our lives. And then, may people see in us the joy we have in Christ, our heart for Him, examples of God being alive in our lives, to the point that they believe in Him too.
