Friday Devotional- The Promise of Wisdom and Guidance
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
When I was young and coming out of college, I was pretty idealistic. I thought I knew all the answers. It didn’t take me long, however, to be humbled by life. I realized pretty quickly that I needed to lean into the promises of God, seeking His wisdom and guidance to navigate this world.
God promises wisdom and guidance to all who believe and follow Jesus. One of my favorite examples is found in James 1:5. It says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, they should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to them.” Wisdom will be given when we ask for it, and sin (finding fault) will not be held against us.
Some other things Scripture says:
- Psalm 16:11 - God will make His path known
- Psalm 23 - God will lead us
- Psalm 25 - God will instruct us
- Psalm 32 - God will direct us
- Isaiah 58 - God will guide us
God will let us know what to do through the reading of His Word, prayer, Holy Spirit, dreams, impressions, counsel from others, and meditation. All we need to do is ask.
