Exodus 14:14 (ESV) 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”

Exodus 14:14 (NLT) 14 The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”

Exodus 14:14 (NIV) 14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

This story in Exodus is about God rescuing the Israelites from the Egyptians. If you have a few minutes, read the entire chapter. Different translations word this verse differently. Notice the word at the end of each verse. Silent. Calm. Still. All 3 are good reminders and give us assurance when we face trials. The Israelites were facing what appeared to be a major problem. The Egyptian army was chasing them and the Israelites were pushed up against the Red Sea with no where to go. God, through Moses, tells them to remain calm. God is about to do another great work and save his people.

Being silent, calm and still in the face of trials is really difficult to do. But taking time to do these things can help calm and remind us that God will provide the next steps we are to take. The Israelites still had to walk through the Red Sea, but God made a way. He just asked them to stay calm, placing complete trust in God's power and plan. Doing this will bring glory to God and show those around you how mighty our God is to protect his people.
