Monday Mission - Moses' Leadership
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Moses was chosen by God to be a great leader for the Israelites. God spoke directly with Moses on numerous occasions - giving direction, laws, and encouragement. There are many lessons from Moses' life, but his humility stands out. Moses did not take his relationship with God for granted and was receptive to advice from others. He also demonstrated great delegation and knew it was best to plan and prepare and not do it all himself.
In the days right after the Exodus from Egypt, Moses listened to his father-in-law Jethro, to set up God-fearing men to aid as judges for the people. This delegation allowed more cases to be heard and making it unnecessary for Moses to hear every dispute. (Full story found in Exodus 18.)
When there were Israelite elders prophesying in the camp, Joshua wanted them to stop. However, Moses responded by saying he wished all the Lord's people were prophets and that the Lord would put his Spirit on them. Moses knew where he stood with God and instead of feeling his leadership status threatened, he rejoiced that others were gifted with the Spirit. Moses knew it was best that more people could spread and hear God's message. (Full story found in Numbers 11:4-35.)
Whatever leadership position we find ourselves in or gifts the Lord has blessed us with - we should use them to build up others and continually point to God and be thankful.
