Monday Mission- Rest
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Rest. In this season of life, much like when my sons were newborns, rest seems like the impossible. Between juggling my mom-hat, wife-hat, co-worker and employee-hats, and every other role I play to many others, I'm finding myself in a season of unrest.
We often consider rest the same as sleep, however that's not the case. Rest is deeper than that. Rest is surrender. It's no wonder we find multiple bible verses talking about rest, because our human nature (especially my human nature) struggles with this.
28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
If you're struggling to find rest, I encourage you to write these verses and post them where you can see them multiple times a day. Take the time to read them and commit them to memory. This is your first step of resting, spending time with God. Keep building up the time you spend with him and you'll be ready to trade your weary soul for the yoke that He alone promises. I'll be right there with you.
