This week as we celebrate our nation’s independence, let’s remember those whose served and fought to give us what we have today. This brings to mind a conversation had on a TV show I was recently watching. The characters were lamenting how this country is now run by cowards and complainers. They talked about how in the past those that came before us had to stand up and fight for what we have today. I could help but also think of this in a more spiritual way. How often in our lives do we tend to take the easy way or less controversial or path of least resistance? God does not want us to be quiet, meek followers. Showing someone love is not giving into them quietly. We need to stand up and be bold proclaimers of the One who saved, knows, and loves us more than anything. Ephesians 6 says “¹³ Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”
