Thursday Thought – Burning So Bright
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
I have two younger daughters and their favorite school special is library (girls after my own heart, I must say!). Quite often they will bring home non-fiction books about animals or outer space; I’ve very much enjoyed getting to learn about God’s creations in a way that makes sense and is easy to understand.
While I enjoy the animal books, there’s something about the outer space books that still amaze even this gal. The vastness of outer space, the solar systems and all of the anomalies of comets and other such things is too much for my mind to quite get wrapped around. We have read books about the Northern Lights, and I still don’t really understand how God created those beautiful lights to be. Or how God created the sun to give us light and warmth, but we cannot even look directly at it.
These lights remind me of how even creation burns so bright for God. The Bible tells us that if no one spoke of Him, even the rocks would cry out. Our God is so wonderous, so full of light that creation had no choice but to reflect Him and His glory in so many different ways. May we remember this with each sunrise, each wave that rolls into the shore and each shooting star that we are lucky enough to see.
Psalm 19:1-6
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
3 They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
4 Yet their voice[b] goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
5 It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
6 It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is deprived of its warmth.
