Thursday Thought - Gifts We Already Have to Give
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
One of the biggest and unexpected blessings of being a Mama is how God teaches me so much about Him through my girls. Every so often, my daughters will create a game of sorts where there are goodie bags as a prize. They look through all of their belongs and do a really good job of finding treasures that they already own to gift to someone else. We aren’t going out and buying brand new things, but rather they dig deep to see what they already have to bless someone else in the house.
The photo today are a few of the treasures that they have given to me and mean so much to me. The snow globes were a surprise that I came home to over Christmas break and have lived on my bathroom counter since then. The bag with the popper bracelet (they know I like pink) and the ISU hair scrunchie (they also know how much I love my alma mater) show that they carefully considered what to give their mom for a Valentine’s Day goodie bag.
Not only are these sweet little gifts, but the snow globes especially serve as a daily reminder as I get ready that day that I will have the opportunity to offer what I can to those that the Lord places in my path. That I don’t need to go get a new gift (physical or spiritual) to bless someone; that God has already given me everything I need to make an impact on people today and that it’s my privilege to love others as Jesus has loved me.
