Thursday Thoughts - What are you looking at?
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
This past weekend I went for a bike ride and stopped by this bridge/creek for a break. I hadn't biked in a couple months, and was looking forward to getting to this point and stopping. There's always something calming about the scenery and the quiet noise of the flowing water. However, as I approached the bridge something else caught my eye. You can't see it in the picture, but there were 3 bald eagles soaring in the sky. It was an incredible sight to see them soaring. As I stood for a few minutes I had 2 thoughts. Eagles can soar so easily because God created them to soar. What did God create and me (and you) with the ability to do? Are you using your gifts and talents to serve God? I'm certain the soaring eagles were a delight to God and I want to delight God by using my abilities too. That was thought number 1.
My second thought was this, the sun was so bright that I couldn't help but look up and be in awe of the brightness. My eyes were literally drawn upward to see the eagles and then also the sun, instead of down at the creek that I intended to stop and look at. It's as if God was reminding me to not be limited by only looking at what was in front of me. Remember to look up to the heavens. Don't get too caught up in what's right in our path, but take time to expand your view and see the bigger picture. Where is God working, can we see it more clearly if we stop and look around. Take time to seek the God who created the heavens and the earth. There is beauty in both.
