Thursday Thoughts - Learning Patience

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

Thursday Thoughts
Thursday 5 11

I think that spring is finally here in Northwest Iowa. The cushions are back on the patio furniture, the trampoline poles are upright again and the sandals have found their way to the shoe bin. I’m so thankful for the change in all the seasons, but winter turning to spring is one of my favorite transitions. Each year I’m reminded to be patient and how God works all things in His timing. I want to hurry up spring and around mid-April I can feel the frustration rising up in my soul. “God! Why is it still just 40 degrees? Are you sure you know what the date is? I mean, it’s April 21st and it’s snowing…again.” (The picture you see is 100% true of April 21st this year.)

The lessons God teaches us are in His timing and in His way. Not to say that when things come easily that they aren’t meaningful; I'm always glad when God answers my prayers in a quick and easy-to-understand way. It’s just that when God asks us to wait and trust Him, when the answer does come, I’m usually more accepting of and grateful for His answer and path. It’s the impatience in my heart that I wrestle with, as well as continually turning over that trust to God. I’m thankful that God works in ways that I don’t always understand and that His ways can always be trusted.
