Thursday Thoughts - People are People
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
As we all know, the presidential election is right around the corner. 'Tis the season to watch the debates, listen to the rally speeches, and cast your vote.
However, there's a darker side to the election season: the hatred it can bring out in people. It seems like everything in America lately is a fight. You are either this or that. You either believe in this right or you don't. You either think the government should do this or that.
Consider those who don’t agree with you politically. Does this affect your relationship with them? Can you get past your differences?
Not everyone will vote like you. Not everyone agrees with every stance you take on political topics. People are still people, so treat them as such. Show love to everyone, regardless of who they vote for. Imagine how much less hate and more love there would be in America if we lived this way.
Jesus said in Matthew 22, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Love your neighbor as yourself. Everyone was made in the image of God. Show the love to others that Jesus first showed to us.
