Thursday Thoughts - Sacraficial Lamb
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Recently I learned that sheep’s blood is an antivenom for snake bites. The story is told of a sheep that was bitten by a rattlesnake. While the snake’s intent was to kill, the sheep’s face just swelled up. It went on like this for a couple of days till its own blood finally fought off and eliminated the venom’s destructive power.
I think this is a beautiful analogy of the power of Jesus’s blood over Satan’s venomous attacks on our life. In the Bible Jesus’s death is compared to the lamb’s sacrifice 1 Peter 1:19 “but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.” Jesus is the lamb without blemish that took the penalty of sin upon himself for the payment for our sins. Ephesians 1:7, “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace”. We can have the power of this antivenom over death if we just repent and ask Him for forgiveness. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
