Thursday Thoughts - You Are Who You Spend Time With
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Do you take time to contemplate who you are spending your time with? Jim Rohn has said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” There is a lot of truth in this, but the concept is not new. We can find this same wisdom in Proverbs 13:20, “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” In 1 Corinthians 15:33 Paul tells us, “Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”” Wise people are careful with who they spend their time with. It's important to really evaluate with whom and how you spend your time. This applies to the people, projects or content you consume daily. If you find it difficult to surround yourself with wise people or find it hard to connect with good solid believers, gaining wisdom can be more difficult. Thankfully in this age of technology, you have many more options to help you grow in wisdom. You can find books, audio, and video of so many great theologians both alive and dead. Of course, don’t forget about reading the Bible! Most of all don’t give up, keep trying and keep at it, even if you have setbacks or failures. Pursue the greatness of God!
