Admirer or Follower? Are you a real follower of Jesus? How do you know? In Matthew 7:15-20 Jesus tells us its not hard to discern the difference. You’ll know by their fruit. What evidence, fruit, is there in your life for others to see? Do you talk to coworkers about what God has been doing in your life or are there more discussions about your favorite sports team. Are you talking to your neighbors about your kids’ activities or about where you saw the Holy Spirit working today? Jesus had lots of admirers, but not as many followers. There’s a difference in hearing what Jesus says and doing it. Following His way of living, loving, being, and becoming like Him is no easy task. Matthew 7 clarifies who is a follower and who is just an admirer. Are you willing to make that effort, to step out from the rest of the admirers and follow Jesus wholeheartedly?
