Thursday Thought - Is God your Lighthouse?
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Last week I was in my car and the song, "My Lighthouse" by Rend Collective was playing. I started asking myself, what does it mean for God to be our lighthouse? The Bible doesn't say anywhere that God is our lighthouse, but it contains examples that can help us make that connection. The purpose of a lighthouse is to be a navigational aid and to warn boats of dangerous areas. Essentially to guide and protect. One of the examples that comes to mind is when God lead the Israelites out of Egypt. He went ahead of them as a pillar of cloud during the day and a pillar of fire at night. He was guiding and protecting them through these pillars, Exodus 13:21-22. If we trust God, he will guide and protect us too.
Psalm 27:1 1 The Lord is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?
Are you allowing God to act as your lighthouse? If you trust in him and ask him, he will go before you guiding and protecting you all of your days.
