Tuesday Truth – Peace at Christmas

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31

Tuesday Truths
Hope of Christmas

I don’t know about you, when I think of the Holidays, peace is not often the first word that jumps to mind. In a busy season of life racing from church Christmas programs to work holiday parties and family gatherings, peaceful isn’t how I would pick to describe my month of December.

However, as Advent prepares our hearts and minds to celebrate the birth of Christ our Savior, our hearts should be filled with peace. The second Advent candle is the candle of peace. Even in a busy season of life where the present-day excitement and demands may seem like a lot, we are blessed to know it is only temporary and our faith is fixed on what is eternal. We know that Christ has come to earth and paid the price for our salvation. We know He will call us home one day to spend eternity with Him. All this should give us peace even when the world around us is chaotic.

“For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on his shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.”—Isaiah 9:6
