Tuesday Truth - Reflection of the Father
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
This weekend I was blessed with the opportunity to spend the weekend with my parents. Most people when they meet my parents can quickly identify the personality traits, physical features, and facial expressions I received from my mom. In fact, a common response I get before even introducing my parents is “This MUST be your mom, you look just like her.”
This got me thinking about how we are called children of the King. Scripture tells us in Genesis 1:29 we are “made in the image of God”. So, we must share some resemblance to our Heavenly Father just like I share some physical resemblance to my mom.
But more than that, there are personality traits and skills I have learned from observing & being influenced by my Mom for 2+ decades. The same should be said about us as Christians. The longer we live in fellowship with Christ and allow the Holy Spirit to work in our hearts and produce good fruit, we should become more and more like our Father in Heaven (John15:5). No one should be surprised to learn that God is loving, joyful, patient, kind, good, faithful, and gentle (Galatians 5:22-23) – because these are all traits that should be seen in his children – Christians.
So next time someone tells you “you have your Mother’s smile.” or “your son has your nose.” – be reminded that you too should be reflecting the image and personality of your loving Heavenly Father.
