Tuesday Truth: Trade Worry for Hope
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Job 13:15-16 – Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him; I will surely defend my ways to his face. Indeed, this will turn out for my deliverance, for no godless person would dare come before him!
All my life I’ve struggled with worry and as a mom to young kids, that hasn’t gotten any easier. Lately though, I feel like God is asking me to really trust the plans He has for me. That my worst fears could come true…and that He would still be the good and sovereign God that I believe in today. Also, that I don’t need to invite needless worry into my thoughts. Instead, I can focus on loving God and others and enjoying my circumstances as they presently are, and not harboring fear about something that hasn’t yet or maybe won’t happen. These verses from Job really struck me the other day and encouraged me that while I can’t control what may come, I can always go back to the cross and keep close the hope I have in Jesus.
