He Giveth More Grace

He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labors increase;
To added afflictions He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.

When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.

Fear not that thy need shall exceed His provision,
Our God ever yearns His resources to share;
Lean hard on the arm everlasting, availing;
The Father both thee and thy load will upbear.

His love has no limits, His grace has no measure,
His power no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.

The words of this song have resonated so much to me in this last year. Growing up my mother sang this song often in churches and in our home. She and my dad even put on an album they made together back in the 80’s. I have attached a link below to this recording if you wish to hear it! Full circle, my dad passed away this past year after a 10-year journey through cancer, and my mom has been recently diagnosed with Primary Progressive Aphasia, which is an incurable disease that will leave her unable to speak, sing, and communicate within the next 2-3 years. I’ve been listening to this recording of my mom singing this song more and more recently, and although it’s sad to think about her losing the ability to do what she loves, I’m reminded in the words of this song, of God’s grace, mercy, peace, and provision in the midst of burdens, afflictions, and trials. I am encouraged that God is there with full giving and resources when we are faced with exhaustion and failed strength from the journey. As believers, when we choose to trust and lean on God through these tough times, God’s love truly does have no limits, measures, or boundaries. He can, and wants to, walk alongside us and provide grace beyond all measure as we trust and remain hopeful. Despite anything that we may be going through be encouraged that when you reach out to Him, He will giveth, and giveth, and giveth again! Amen to this promise for all those who believe in Jesus!
