Friday Devotional - A Reminder to Fear Not
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
We've all been through a lot in the past year and a half, some even longer than that. Last year we shared encouragement from God's Word regarding fear. Whether this is a personal struggle of yours or not, God's Word brings us encouragement all the time and we pray this reminder of a devotion we shared in June of 2020 is a blessing to you this week as well.
Friday Devotional - Fear Not, June 26, 2020
Fear is real. And, during these crazy times with COVID-19 and rioting, fear has gripped many people. Not to mention the many other things that bring anxiety to life. Fear can be a daily battle for people. What do we do with this? How do we defeat it? Well, let’s talk about what the Bible says about it. Fear is a topic that’s talked about a lot in Scripture. The phrase “Do not be afraid” for example, is written in the Bible 365 times. That’s a daily reminder from God to live every day being fearless.
God wants us to trust Him and not be afraid (Isaiah 41:10). He wants us to find our foundation in Him and not be moved (Psalm 62:6). He wants us to rest in Him and not be discouraged (Psalm 62:5-6). As long as we’re walking with Him, conscious of His presence with us, all is well. It becomes virtually impossible to stumble while walking in His light.
May we not fall prey to the craziness and darkness of this world. Instead, may we walk in the light of His presence throughout each day, grabbing hold of the peace that only a relationship with Him can bring. John 14:27 says, “The peace I give is a gift. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” Lean into Him.
