Friday Devotional - Be a Positive Impact
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
People need encouragement. To verify this, all we have to do is ask a pastor, Chaplin, counselor…or even a parent.
Some folks talk about the struggles in their life, but many don’t. Either way, the people around us could be, and probably are, being weighed down by something. Therefore it’s so important to be an encourager. You and I can do that with anyone and everyone we come in contact with. We might be the only source of encouragement a person will get in a day. The Good Lord made us to be relational, to be around others, and to be a source of love. As Christians we’re called to be that kind of light in a dark world.
Matthew 22:37-39 says to love God & Love others.
Hebrews 3:13a says to encourage one another daily.
Proverbs 12:25 says that an encouraging word cheers a person up.
Hebrews 10:24 says to encourage one another with outbursts of love and good deeds.
I know, for some of us it’s easier than others, but it still takes effort either way. Drop a note, send a text, or leave a gift. Be that kind of person who encourages others. Be the person who lifts people up and helps them feel better about their day, not the person who adds weight to their already heavy burdens. The big questions for each of us is, which one are we?
