Friday Devotional – Happy Thanksgiving!
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Psalm 100: 4-5 says, "Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations."
I love this time of year. It’s that time of year to reflect on all that we have and are thankful for. The blessings of life are real and have power on us, and others. According to this passage, it starts with thankfulness for what God has done. That the Lord is good…and that His love endures. With this perspective, thankfulness has the power to make us all think and act differently. It can be contagious in our own lives and the lives of others. This passage even says it will impact future generations. Wow!
So be thankful. Have a thankful heart as often as possible. Let it impact your life and the lives around you. When we thank God throughout our day, not only does it help us pray more often, but it also provides a solid foundation of many other prayers. It’s the beginning of that relational part of our walk with Him. When we practice thankfulness, we draw near to Him with a grateful heart, He fills us with Joy.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says “Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
