Monday Mission - Something to be Transformed

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31

Monday Mission
Monday 5 8

Have you ever just been living your life and then something pops up and you know a change is needed? A few months ago, my daughters expressed interest in playing the piano. I love music, but am no pianist, so I set to work to find a piano teacher and a piano. Turns out that our neighbor teaches piano, so that was easy. A friend had a piano that she was looking to re-home and offered it to us for free; we just had to come and get it. About 3 weeks ago, the piano found its way to our house and my daughters were so excited! I was too, but after about 30 minutes of seeing it in our gray/white/dark espresso living room, I knew that it needed to change.

Like the good Millennial I am, I took to Pinterest in search of ideas. Staining a piano was way to daunting of a task, but painting seemed like a much more manageable undertaking. That same night, I went to our local hardware store in search of sandpaper, rollers, brushes of variable sizes and primer. Before bed, I had half of the piano sanded already.

As I was sanding down this new-to-us piano, I thought about how God finds us in whatever shape we are in. He doesn’t ask us to change and then come to Him; instead, He seeks us out in the middle of whatever we are in and asks us to trust Him. He promises to rough out our impurities if we would only love and trust Him going forward; that He wants to transform us.

Our mission today is to spend a moment thinking about what God may be asking us to trust Him with to transform. He wants good things for His kids, just like I want good things for my daughters (like piano lessons…and a piano that matches the décor of our living room).

Stay tuned for Part 2 tomorrow.
