Thursday Thought - God's Love in the Sky
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
I’ll start off today with the disclaimer that I’m not a scientist. Spoiler alert 😉
We know from the Bible that God is a Creator; He created everything as told in Genesis. Some of God’s creations I question a bit. I mean, have you SEEN that 2-beaked bird? Google “Rhinoceros hornbill” for this guy. Admittedly I don’t like birds to begin with, so this creature is something straight out of my nightmares. But I digress.
What I don’t question though are sunrises and sunsets; this is a little less controversial than the above-mentioned bird. I’m sure there is a lot of science behind how the sun shines through the dark and clouds and creates all the beautiful colors that make up these scenes. As mentioned earlier though, I’m not a scientist. I’m sure that the process is fascinating to learn about, but we’ll save that for another day.
Instead, I like to focus on the heart and love of God that we see so evidently painted right into the sky above us. Science aside, God didn’t have to make the beginning of the day nor the end of the day beautiful; He chose to. And not for Himself I think – for us to see His beauty, creativity and to inspire us to cultivate those things in our own lives. I like to think that God paints the sky each morning and night because He loves us and wants us to stop for a moment and hold gratitude in our hearts, to pause for something beautiful.
Revelation 4:11 – Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.
