Thursday Thought – Remind Yourself of God
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Sometimes I forget to think about God. I don’t mean it in a bad way – not like I’m walking away from Jesus or my faith. But rather that I get busy with life. I’m a wife, mom of 2 little girls, work full time, cook meals for my family, serve in my church, coordinate a book club, try to exercise, have a reading goal and am re-investing in playing my violin (there’s a LOT of squeaks as it’s been a decade or two since I used to play). And I’d like to note that these are all good things; but we all can get busy with good things and forget to pause on God. So, what’s on your list? I bet there’s at least a few over-lapping things.
All that to say that sometimes we need to be intentional about putting God into our days. Maybe it’s keeping the radio on the local Christian station. Maybe it’s starting the day with reading a chapter in the Bible and a cup of coffee in hand.
At work, my planner is my lifeline. I have a “Notes” section for each week that usually sits empty (as circled). As I sit here, looking at it, I see an opportunity – I could be intentional about writing a verse in that space and I’d see it 5 out of 5 workdays. The picture to the left today is my actual planner, as is the bag of popcorn, which is also a staple on my desk. I like to keep it real here.
My thought today that we can all be more intentional about placing God in our paths. What might that look like for you?
