For many people a verse of comfort is Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." For most, it stops there. But if you read into the next verse it goes on to say "Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you."

To me, this says we can count on the Lord having a plan for us and take great hope in that, but we need to seek out that plan through prayer and work towards it as well.
