Friday Devotional - Jesus in the Book of Lamentations

We’ve been working through the Old Testament looking for the New Testament Jesus 100’s, even 1,000’s of years before He was born. They’re all great stories on their own, but they absolutely paint a picture of who Jesus will be and what he’ll do for those who believe. Jesus claimed that the entire Old Testament pointed to Him (Luke 24:27; John 5:46). Since the Book of Lamentations is a part of the OT, let’s take a look to see how it points to Jesus.

Thursday Thought – What Do You Want?

I’ll admit it… this is a safe space, right? I love Christmas movies. The sappy ones. The ones where the good-looking couple falls in love, despite the odds, and overcomes ALL the obstacles to claim their true love.

Tuesday Truth – Hope in the Exile

Jeremiah 29:11 – ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ This weekend I was reminded of this common verse in the book of Jeremiah. It’s a great verse of encouragement to many people. What some people may not know, however, is the context in which God gave this verse to Jeremiah and the Israelites.

Mission Monday – What’s in a Word

At the beginning of a new year, some people choose a word to embrace, learn about and lean into for the next year. While I haven’t done this before, I do believe in the power of words – written, spoken and believed.
