In 2010 Jon Gordon decided instead of a New Year's resolution, he wanted to do something that was more effective.

The final Advent candle is called the Christ candle. This candle is lit on Christmas Day and is a celebration of the Messiah being born. The white color of the candle represents His perfect and sinless nature. The lighting of this candle represents that the light of the world has entered the world through the birth of Christ in Bethlehem

The fourth Advent candle is the candle of Love. The Bible is the greatest love story ever written and the birth of Christ is a great display of God’s immeasurable love for us. John 3:16 summarizes this so well, “For God so loved the world that gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

The third Advent candle is the candle of Joy! We light this candle to remember that even in the hardships of this life, Christ has come to save us from our sins and for that we have eternal joy. As the angels proclaimed to the shepherds on the night of Christ’s birth “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” (Luke 2:10-11) Christ’s birth is a source of GREAT JOY! The Pizza Ranch Marketing Team had the opportunity to spread some love & joy this holiday season by taking time away to serve at a local non-profit in the area.

I don’t know about you, when I think of the Holidays peace is not often the first word that jumps to mind. In a busy season of life racing from church Christmas programs to work holiday parties and family gatherings, peaceful isn’t how I would pick to describe my month of December.

This week we are going to walk through the Advent candles with each blog post. Today we start with the first advent candle which focuses on Hope.

Sometimes we just need to be encouraged and let the Word of God speak on its own.  Here are just a few benefits of being a believer/follower of Jesus:
