Whenever my faith journey is feeling a little stale, I pick up a book that I purchased several years ago; “In God’s Name, Wisdom from the World’s Great Spiritual Leaders” by Jules and Gedeon Naudet.

I have a secret, one that I haven’t shared with anyone, even my family, until today….

One of my favorite things is to feel small in God’s creation. I love to go for walks in the evening and by the time I return home, it will sometimes be dark, the sun long set. On the nights when the sky is clear and all I see are stars, I feel impossibly small. God created every single star, hung them exactly where they belong in the sky and yet He created me; and yet, He created you.

Sometimes I get busy, so distracted that I forget what's really important. I don't mean to - it's just that life happens. Grocery store trips need to be made, kids need to get to school and practices, meals need to be cooked, relationships need to be tended, jobs need to be worked, and 8-hours of sleep is the goal. But guess what? The Bible gives grace for even the busy times:

Happy Monday morning! I’m glad you’re here. Can we do a quick summer check-in? How is your summer going? Do you feel like you’re living your best life, hitting up the pool, going to the community baseball games, visiting your local farmer’s market and spending time in the sun? Or does it feel like this summer has been full of unexpected challenges, unforeseen frustrations and big or little inconveniences? Maybe a mix of both?

As strange as it may sound, it's true—Jesus took naps. Mark 4:38 says, “Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, ‘Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?’"

In today’s society, it can be incredibly difficult to discern what’s true and what’s not—especially when it comes to the media and social media. Headlines are often misleading, designed to evoke fear or strong emotions just to generate clicks, rather than to convey accurate information. On social media, we’re constantly exposed to videos or posts that can give a false impression—whether it’s promoting a product as the best on the market or showcasing someone’s vacation as picture-perfect.

Paul explains in Galatians what it truly means to live and walk by the Spirit, offering a clear picture of the kind of life Christians are called to lead. Galatians 5:22–23 says, “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”
